John Smit and Kingsley Holgate assist in launching the 'New' McCarthy Land Rover Durban.

McCarthy Land Rover Durban recently underwent a transformation to become one of the first Land Rover Dealers in the country to sport the new Land Rover Corporate Identity. Dealer Principal Andre Schrenk is very proud of the changes and their introduction at the official opening on 29 September 2010

Andre explained that prior to the revamp they used to share the facility and it soon become apparent that both brands needed to expand their operations and the decision was made to make the Land Rover operation a standalone facility.

The process gave them the opportunity to not only expand the dealership to include a new and used vehicle showroom, modern workshop and accessories department as well as a Land Rover Gears Store whilst modernising the dealership in line with new corporate standards set out by Land Rover Global.

There is really no better to way to officially reopen the dealership than by having two brand ambassadors of world class standard as your guests of honour.

Kingsley Holgate needs no introduction to the Land Rover community or to the world. Not only has he traversed Africa in Land Rovers but, he has touched many lives with his “One Net, One Life, Malaria Campaign” and his love for ‘Mamma Africa”

The legendary record breaking Springbok Captain John Smit also needs no introduction. Not only is he a World Champion and a South African rugby hero to thousands of fans both young and old but, is also the perfect South African and rugby ambassador

Kingsley started the evening by ‘christening’ the newly opened showroom with Captain Morgan from the well travelled Calabash and a few tales including one about how he and his team made a dash for Timbuktu so that they could find a television with sat light coverage to watch the World Cup Final between the Boks and England. Kingsley is a huge rugby fan and was not going to miss the final even if it was broadcast in French. This story amused both John and the other guests.

Both John and Kingsley exchanged stories of their lives and the guests enjoyed the evening till late.
